Uhm I hope these plants don't take over like a couple have taken off here. I planted a variegated agave and a plain green one from my grandmother's farm garden. 25-30 years ago it was up the back but the garden has extended further and so have these plants - great spiky clumps which have runners under the ground. When I open the garden I have to hack back some leaves near the nearly non existant paths so that people do not get spiked. One day I will have to really do something about them!!

These are gorgeous flowers Chris. What a thrill to have them in the garden. I really like the little plant behind and to the left of the Echinocereus coccineus ssp. What is it please?

lesley--in that case-watch for the cactus forms  named 'inermis' like that one--thats what it means, 'no prickles'  ;D (or far fewer than normal, at least) quite  a few cactus sp have such a form...

i suppose if they are not 'trained' for it from an early age they'd be much more at risk--not knowing plants could bite back!  lol
