This gentian species is flowering in a friend's garden, just starting to come into bloom, with many more buds coming. The growth is low and sprawling, with beautiful flowers. Anyone know what species it might be.

I thought G. septemfida at first, then decided not. Lovely plant, whatever.

I agree with Lesley it is from septemfida section. That's all. Due to gentians from that section easily hybridize most of garden plants are hybrids.

Thanks everyone. Took a brief look at G. freyniana, does look similar. And then when looking at the semtemfida section, there are so many similar looking species.
