Corydalis nobilis ?
« on: June 27, 2007, 06:07:20 AM »
I purchased seed of "Corydalis nobilis" last Fall.  It germinated in a month and is blooming now.  This is not nobilis-like behavior.  A photo is attached.  The flowers are yellow with a dark blotch.  I thought C. nobilis was supposed to look like this:  http://www.senecahillperennials.com/uploads/images/plant_b-c/corydalis_nobilis1.jpg

What do you think this plant is?  Species or hybrid?

Gene
This weed or something very similar has been doing the rounds in Australia as C. nobilis for a long time(at least 20 years). It's a biennial which will swamp other plants and re-seeds ferociously (at least in our climate it does) and needs to be closely watched if you don't want it taking over! In good conditions it will reach 2 ft (60cm) tall and 3 ft (90cm) across!
cheers

The pic below shows what I have as Corydalis nobilis, seedlings, and in flower and foliage it is very like what is shown in the link above that Gene gives. It's not like the pic in his post. However, it too, seeds around and is weedy especially in the warmer parts of the country, from whence mine came. So I don't see how it can actually BE nobilis. :'(

I'll do another pic when it's in bloom.
