rubrocyanea

I agree with David.
Decent form of rubrocyanea too. The cultivated stock I've seen tends to be narrower-petalled, or maybe I've been unlucky. In the wild I've seen it with fully-overlapping petals forming a cup, very attractive.

Looking at your link Maggi, what a wonderful selection of species there is in Babiana. I thought there were half a dozen or so.

Thanks for all the input although I am not entirely convinced that no 2 is B rubrocyanea to me it seems to be more like B regia(PBS).This is what I know as B rubrocyanea.bye Ray

Dear Lesley:
88 species according to the newest monograph!!
Ray;
in rubrocyanea
stamens unilateral facing downwards
style dividing opposite middle of anthers
branches dividing into broad flattened stigmas
in regia
stamens symmetrically aranged in centre of flower
style dividing below anthers
branches filiform
otherwise VERY similar
