Dear me..... deafening silence from Ponteland.... had no-one a camera or able to give us a pen-picture of how the show went?
I believe Bob and Rannveig Wallis won the Farrer with a Scilla....but which scilla?

And how did the sale of Archibald bulbs go?  
So many questions, so few answers.....

Indeed...there must surely have been at least one camera wielding forumist there. I do know, however, that the Farrer Medal winning 'Scilla' was Hyacinthoides lingulata.

Hyacinthoides lingulata   is a synonym of Scilla lingulata I think?

Co-incidentally one of the bulbs for sale from the Connoisseur Collection at the SRGC DWE !

It is, those taxonomists have been busy in the little blue bulbs department    
also looks like they've dropped the var ciliolata into the species

There would have been potted bulbs of it for sale at Ponteland too if we had gone. We planned to but I was overcome with an attack of extreme lack of enthusiasm, so had a lie in instead.

Anyway - plenty of pots of the Scilla to sell at North Lancs meetings now, with any remaining being sold off at Blackpool in March. Plug over

I was taking the 'official' photos for the AGS/SRGC bulletins, and asked Stan to take some around the hall as I did not have time (or the energy, after carrying so many heavy pots  ) to take them. Here's a couple of views of the Farrer Medal plant (Hyacinthoides lingulata) from Bob and Rannveig Wallis to whet your appetite.

I'll post a few more later to fill in any gaps in Stan's coverage, but mine are all 'portrait' type shots of the plants - no people!

 ...you'll have happy Editors, though!  Perhaps you should lobby for smaller pot sizes!

No disrespect to those at the show, but I'd prefer to see the plants rather than the people if there was a choice.

Well that's made my day, it's been a long time since anyone called me young! 

Brian, don't worry, I will post the plant pictures - it's just that to get the quality I need, the files are large and take some time to process/tweak to get them just right. Sometimes other things get in the way - family life, gardening, work, gardening.....
