Thanks for the pictures Stan they give a good overview of the show and show what can be produced in October with a bit of luck. I did take my camera but it decided it wasn't going to work on the day, probably because I dropped it on the way into the hall...luckily I was able to fix at home later in day.
Some comments on the show...The Farrer exhibit caused a fait bit of discussion among exhibitors and it was a lot 'quieter' an exhibit than say some of the cyclamen on show but close inspection did show it to be in pristine condition and beautifully presented...never heard how close the voting was to see if the judges were devided or not
Stans pic of the small cushion 3 pan class may have some of you wondering how three small cushions were placed above the large cushions that came second but the answer lies in the schedule as the class demanded three species and all other exhibits appeared to have hybrids included in their three pans...caused a fair bit of muttering, especially as the winning three was my exhibit and I did not get it onto the bench till late (trying to fix camera) and the other exhibitors thought that they would get away with the odd hybrid. I understand next year the 'species' bit will not be there!

In any group of alpines I never expected to mark a Solanum as a favourite but that variegated one with its handful of jaffas thrown over, is something special.

Many thank for posting the pictures from the benches Stan - you seem to have been remarkably busy!

Now that I've sorted the pictures for the journals and the CDs are ready to post to those who need them, I thought I'd post some close-ups for the forum.
Firstly two Certificate of Merit plants:
- Asplenium ceterach, Ivor Betteridge
- Cyclamen clilicium (x2), Mike and Christine Brown (apparently this is the winning plant from the Cyclamen society show a few weeks ago)
- Cyclamen graecum anatolicum, Derek Pickard (Ewesley Salver winner for the best cyclamen in a 19cm pot)

The other two Certificate of Merit plants. The judges seem to have been very impressed by the quality of the plants at the show, quite remarkable for an autumn show and a fitting finale to Mike and Pearl's time as show secretaries.

I agree, a lot of quality plants.... just expecting the sound of galanthophiles fainting with the sight of that pot of G. peshmenii from 'Kidders'...... they get overexcitied at this time of year, you know!
