Not far away from the town with this fine Cathedral is the next garden we visited?

That's Salisbury Cathedral but I don't know the garden.  ???

That's right Graham.
I realise that there will be more nice gardens in that area, but I know that some forumists have visited this special place.
It's about 25 kms. from Salisbury.

Some photo's of the Cathedral in Salisbury

and on the side of the Cathedral we saw this large scale painted sculpture by Sean Henry.

The other picture shows Jermyn's House, the home of Sir Harold Hillier.
I am not a tree expert but always wanted to see this famous place.
Many people in Holland told to visit if being nearby this garden
The Berberis shown here were gorgeous (and tasted well too) :D ;D
Here some pics.

On the same day of visiting Hillier's we made a visit to Exbury Gardens too, as I had read about
the special Nerine Show there.
The gardens are beautiful laid out, with many nice old trees

Luit, thank you so much for this superb travelogue of your fantastic trip! Your photos showcase every place in such a way that all the happiness of your adventure shines through and your observations and sharp wit make it a joy to read.  I am only sad I missed out on meeting you as from the photos you came within a few minutes walk  :(

But we came more special to Exbury for the Nerine Show. I had already seen pictures of glasshouses full of flowers, so we were rather disappointed to come into not a very big hall where on some tables pots with Nerine sarniensis were placed. It was possible to buy plants from the tables. Photographing was only possible with flash so I took just a few.
I expressed my disappointment to the lady in charge.
She was very kind and immediately tried to make a phonecall whith the responsible gardener for Nerine.
The result was that we could make a visit to the glasshouses next morning if we were still around  and he would be delighted to receive us.
And so we did and were heartily welcomed by Mr. Theo Herselmans.
Here few pictures of the Show and some of the glasshouses, but the bulk I will better show in the special Nerine thread.

Glad you like our traveling report Robin. We sure loved our trip and hope to repeat once :D
Meeting you would have been fun. I thought you live in Switzerland, but obviously I missed something ???
In the Southern part of England is still so much to see that we will probably come again.

By the way, that is a gorgeous berberis. I wonder if berberis sawflies like it, they've played havoc with our B. thunbergiis this year.
