Some decent sunshine in the middle of the day provided enough warmth for a roll-call; a fraction under half my varieties are showing noses or better, which still leaves a higher than usual number still to show. The long cold spell is surely the cause.  The ones that are well up are in no hurry to push up flower scapes. The lack of enthusiasm is mirrored by my alpine house narcissi, which seem to be in suspended animation. Its good to have some Galanthus activity on Ebay.

A few early ones from Nova Scotia.

1. Galanthus reginae-olgae subsp. vernalis 'Alex Duguid'; as you might guess Mr. Ellis already has this one in flower!

2./3. Galanthus plicatus 'Three Ships' (John Morley find, Henham Park, Suffolk 1984)

4. Galanthus 'Richard Ayres' - in bud

Another huge Monday storm on the way with vast amounts of rain and wind and up to 11c.

Mark - All are in the correct order now.  You would catch that and so did Brian!

I also see from my shot that Richard Ayres at long last seems to be offseting reasonably.

johnw - 75-100mm tomorrow!  Must be sure to get the plants on the ark this time.

It's tempting - but it's not really me.  I prefer to give them away or swap them.   :)
