Heard on the news that the floods in Queensland cover an area the size of France and Germany combined. It's this kind of stuff that puts a perspective on how large a country Australia is.

I think the "continent of Europe" is around 10 million km2, and the United States has a total of around 9 million km2, just to give you an idea of relative sizes. We are physically the 6th largest country in the world, apparently.
