Spurtle found - in the kitchen drawer. It was made at an outdoor show in Bo'ness by a chappie using a treadle operated lathe.

One of my favourite Pulsatillas is albana lutea.

Happy to report that the seed received from the seed exchange in January is germinating.  ;D ;D

Also have Pulsatilla albana violacea germinating.

My sister and brother in law, who send me lots of funny and cute emails,  just sent me this: it is horribly relevant to my life!

  Cleaning Poem

I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'

He told me to get off my butt,
                                And tidy up the house.
And so I started cleaning up...
                                The smudges off my mouse.

I wiped and shined the topside.
                                That really did the trick...
I was just admiring my good work.

                                I didn't mean to 'click.'

But click, I did, and oops - I found
                                A real absorbing site
That I got SO way into it -
I was into it all night.
So nothing's changed except my mouse.
It's as shiny as the sun.
I guess my house will stay a mess.....
While I sit here on my bum.

Just taking a short break from weeding - and it will be short as the weather is fantastic, the soil is moist and amongst the weeds I am discovering hundreds of Crocus seedlings, together with Pulsatilla seedlings.  Life is good.

I feel kind of happy today. I've been offered a job as a chugger but I hate chuggers. A chugger is a charity mugger that we have all encountered in in shopping centres trying to sell us Sky TV, Dogs Trust whatever, Wildlife Trust subscriptions and ... and ...

I got this message from theOnionMan Mark McD yesterday....

"Today it is a splendid spring day, almost summer-like, 63 F (17 C) and
sunny, and after a long stretch of cold weather with plant growth held
back, with a couple days of warmth, plants are starting to sprout and
jump out of the ground... so satisfying."

Well, reason enough for Mark to be happy, I agree, but there is more reason for him to be happy and for us to be happy for him.... he has begun a new job 8)

Mark wrote ".... yes, I finally started a new job just 1 week ago, after 17 months unemployment. "

I had hoped he might find a new job that would not entail the tiresome commute that his old position had necessitated.... but no such luck:

"Funny thing, I was hoping for a job in any number of areas that would result in a better commute, but lo and behold, my new office is only 1/2 mile from my old office, so I get to enjoy the exact same 80-mile 3-hour round-trip commute each day, bit since I've done it for 20 yrs already, I guess it is manageable.

In my new job role, I am providing consultation work on-site in various offices for a couple days a week, a large part done in Boston, Massachusetts, and on those days the commute can be as much as 2-1/2 hrs.  With the new role, comes tons of training, certifications, etc., so after getting home at about 8:00 PM on weeknights, I have no energy left to address the forums... back to the rat-race....

Thanks so much for the congrats. Even with the long commute hardship, the work is in an area that I know best, and I see strong potential and I'm feeling very positive about it overall.

Regards,  Mark McD."

Seventeen months is an  awfully long time to be looking for work and I'm sure you will all be as pleased for Mark as I am that he is back in employment, even if it means we  will "see" less of him around here or in the NARGS forum.

Super Mark, very happy for you. And Boston's not such a bad place, some of the finest restaurants on the planet as you know.  I could spend a year in Chinatown.

That's excellent news for both Marks, but especially for theOnionMan. Unemployment is the cause of much despair in the world. I hope this job goes well for him. His family will be pleased too.
