Lovely as it was to get my packages from Pitcairn Alpines and Buried Treasure, today I had an even better surprise, two unexpected snowdrop bulbs arrived in the post.  Many thanks ;D ;D

We are like big kids getting all these parcels  ;D ;) so happy.

It hasn't been that warm and sunny on the other side of the river, Angela!

But I'm still happy.... discovered that my Rhododendron auriculatum has made four flowers! After nearly thirty years! I'm not just happy, I'm in SHOCK!

Weather over the last couple of days meant they snuck out without me seeing and the first two flower heads are already battered by the rain, but I'm really thrilled. Pictures on the Rhodo thread when I find where Ian has put the camera. :-\

Since the Forum attachment facility is still disabled while work is done, you can see the R. auriculatum flower in Ian's latest Bulb Log  :D

Our first grandchild, Olivia Louise, was born this morning at 9.35a.m. to our son, David, and his darling wife, Mary. Baby weighted 7lbs, is absolutely beautiful and it was such a great occasion to hold her today. Mother very well, though tired, and father is excited and delighted almost beyond bearing.

A great event for your family Paddy, many congratulations to all participants. It sounds that while Mum and Dad are delighted and excited, Grandpa and no doubt Grandma are over the moon somewhere, on Cloud 9 maybe. Olivia Louise looks to be a real beauty. 8)

Congrats, grand-Paddy! ;D
Much excitement for the whole family - not to mention grand-parenting duties like teaching the child to misbehave and relating stories of when their dad was a lad!
cheers
