A very good day - my daughter got a much anticipated new job, and on my son's birthday he sold his car and got the cast off his broken leg.  :D :D

John has done very well in his Leaving Certificate Examination - results out in last few days. This exam is equivalent to A-levels in the UK. He scored 545 out of a possible 600 and seems to be on line for his first choice at college, pharmacy at Trinity, Dublin. College offers come on Monday next.

Of course, we will then have the mad rush to secure accommodation for him and the inevitable big bills but it is well to be happy while we can.

My goodness, more reasons to celebrate in the Tobin household!  Excellent news and my warmest congratulations to John on his success. I wish him well in his further studies and future career.

Thinks....... pharmacist, eh? With the average age and habits of the Forumists , we could really do with  a pharmacist on hand....  ::) ;) ;D

Congratulations to John, Paddy.
Know the feeling of sorting accommodation etc. Mel got her place at Leeds for Building Surveying this week, the screams of delight when she found out said it all.

Mandy is busy searching for financial records for the student loan as I type.

Well done, Mel!
I know it's all pretty stressful for you parents sorting out all the bits and bobs for your Student offspring..... but it is so exciting a time...... great for us onlookers just to have the pleasure of offering congratulations without any of the other stuff!  ;)

Congratulations from me too. As a parent I'm pretty glad my two are well past University now, not a particularly good time to be starting in England now and will be much worse next year.

Don't I know it! Our son will (if he achieves his A-level targets, and seems on course to following his AS results) be going to uni next year just as the fees increase massively.
