New Zealand is raising the university entry level qualification requirements for James's year group in order to reduce places by 20%!

Well done John and Mel and it is just all go at your house Paddy . We also have some of the inevitable big bills to come .
Our daughter, Fiona , has won a 3 year scholarship to study business at a university in Tokyo , which is really cool . Her fees are paid for but there are some ongoing expenses for the parents .

AND I managed to persuade said son not to go into an enduro motorbiking competition 2 days after the cast came off...

This sounds vaguely familiar except that my own attempts at persuasion were NOT successful. However, he's still alive! and will be 40 in a week, so maybe sense will prevail - sometime.

My last pair of walking boots (goretex, inside a fabric/suede upper) received nothing more than a brush over to get the mud off. They never leaked until I wore through the soles, when I went out and bought another pair exactly the same as they were also extremely comfortable.  :D

Some dear friends of mine have been wonderfully babysitting many of my plants for a long time and today we had a repotting session. And I took the opportunity to finally list all the plants that they are looking after (where possible - some have lost/never had labels) - so "Yes!!! I'm So Happy" with this weird and wonderful collection of mainly shrubs and trees - some 90 of which were repotted today!!  :D :o

Merciful heavens, Chloe, that's quite a list... and some of those plants must have needed quite big pots... you must be exhausted ?
I'm guessing that these are some of the plants you've been tempted to at the plant fairs of the last few years??

Today after leaving the pet shop with a really large sack of dog food this YOUNG, HANDSOME chap approached me and asked if he could carry my bag to the car. I replied no but thank you very much for the offer. Getting in my car reality hit home this lovely young man had just seen this nearly pensionable   woman struggling with a sack of dog food and felt sorry for her. Oh well it's nice to think that a good looking chap would offer to help.
Maggi it was the next street to you. Nice to know that you have nice friendly folks beside you.

I accept any such offers nowadays, whether they're young and handsome or not, or whether they're as cranky in the knees as I am. ???

Off to my first Leeds festival tomorrow at the ripe old age of 58. Mandy wanted to go to one before she reached the big 50.
Mel is cringing at the thought of bumping into us.
