So was the result Buddy...so was the result.
Just in case anyone hasn't heard, Man City went to Old Trafford, home of Manchester United, and stuffed them 6-1.
I've waited 60 years for this !!!!!

When my Dad was at school (Almonbury Grammar, Huddersfield - he played for the school team which was undefeated for two seasons, with the only drawn match being when my Dad was captain as most of the team was at the funeral of a team member) the only teams of note were Arsenal and Huddersfield Town F.C. The players were household names but lived in (council?) semis, like normal people.

And I can remember going to Maine Road on the 76 bus and sitting next to some of the City players. Nowadays they drive Bentleys and Porsches....and the supporters still go on the bus. How times have changed !!!!!!

Great win for the All Blacks by the way. My sister lives in Auckland. Seems she and her husband have lost their voices!!!

An eagle-eyed friend was driving through Winslow, Arizona and slowed down to take a look at this mural. I believe the vehicle with the girl in it is a flat bed Ford?

I have just heard from our daughter, son-in-law and family who are on holiday in Ibiza.  Our grandson Ollie (aged 5) asked his mother; 'If you were on a sinking ship would you choose to save grandma or a doughnut"?
Joanne replied; "Grandma of course".  His measured reply; "You clearly don't like doughnuts"!
He WAS eating a doughnut at the time.
We are still giggling ...

Another small moment of glee in the Booker household ... a VERY late flowering Ranunculus insignis brightening the autumnal drizzle.

Much nicer than the buttercups in my grass (which the tortoise appreciates, even if I don't); which reminds me: why did Greta Garbo plant grass seed in her hair? " I want to be a lawn!" :P

What a day, it's been raining all day it's been so grey, windy and so miserable, are you all thinking I am in  the wrong thread, should this not be in the moan thread ! Well no maybe the weather isn't good but what a good night we had at our local meeting. Had a really nice talk by Jim Jermyn on New ways of growing Himalayan plants.  He is so full of enthusiasm, really cheered me up. Then Maggi handed me a bag at the meeting, something new to me, jumbo white chocolate buttons  :o  never new they were out there.
Thanks Maggi what a thoughtful friend you are  :-*

Angie :)

Oh forgot to say I got two bags, one white chocolate and one milk ;D ;D ;D

What can I say, Angela... I saw those buttons and thought of you!  :D

Angela is right... the weather yesterday was really horrible and poor Jim Jermyn had to drive all the way up here... and home again, through some ghastly conditions...... but what a great talk he gave us. I've never heard Jim giva a bad talk.... but somehow the wonderful photographs, mixed with Jim's enthusiasm and tales of plants... and people.... were even more exciting than usual.
A super evening for the Aberdeenshire Group.

Well I certinally appreciated Jim Jermyn coming to Aberdeen on such an awful night and I also appreciated the chocolate buttons  ;)
