It doesn't always work for me, either.... I have no idea why! But....  someone may benefit from an earlier showing!  :)

Mine too Peter (it's an age thing!!) but I'll stay up and watch it again-no recorder you see ::)
David... and others in the UK ... it is available on the BBC i-player... to watch on demand when you are wide awake  ;) http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b017grqt/Rich_Halls_Continental_Drifters/

Thank you, Maggi. I don't automatically think of iPlayer as I don't use it often. I'll use it for this. Paddy

You're kidding?

I had assumed that the BBC was available throughout the UK.

Er! Helen, there's 900 years of history in that! Michael's in the southern part of Ireland which is an independent State. I know, our geography must be confusing ;D

Lesley, Helen and Michael,

You can download a programme called "Expat Shield" which will allow you to use iPlayer though you are not resident in the UK. It manages this by connecting your computer to a proxy server in the UK so the BBC site "sees" your computer as being located in the UK and will then allow you access to the programmes.

The only hitch - only turn on ExpatShield when you wish to use it and turn it off when finished. It's not that it will do any harm but it can be nuisance if on all the time.

David,  you're right.
Even though I knew that Southern Island was independent I didn't realize that would exclude BBC programming.

Paddy, thanks for the tip.
I did try 'Expat Shield' a few months ago before my computer died but couldn't get it to work.
I think I need an  Expat shield for dummies book. :-[

Not tried it yet Lesley.

Been trying to source Jaffas in something other than poly bags for sending to friends and relatives. Strange, I can get presentation boxes of shortbread made in Ancaster Square, Callander in Farmer's department store, but I don't appear to be able to buy a New Zealand icon in a presentation box to send home.

Tried to install, but it seems to come with clingons, so I uninstalled it. Took longer than the USS Enterprize would take to circle Uranus looking for the pesky varmints! ::)

A cracker of a concert here last night.  Pinchas Zukerman conducting the National Arts Centre Orchestra teamed up with Symphony Nova Scotia.

Programme:

GSTQ & OC as Lieutenant-Governor in attendance - combined orchestras

Telemann Viola Concerto in G, Zukerman soloist and conductor, SNS

Mozart Violin Concerto K.216, Zukerman soloist and conductor with NACO

Tchaikovsky Symphony #5, NACO & SNS.  Firsts switching seats at the 2nd movement.

The crowd erupted and the combo encored an amazing Elgar's Nimrod.   What a feat to syncronize two orchestras in but a few days let alone to play 2 stringed instruments so superbly and conduct so well.

Great food at the reception, mainly Italian antipasti but towering trays of sweets. One huge platter of tiny tall glasses with exquisite chocolate mousse over brandied? pear bits.  Had vision of M.Y. grabbing the platter and making a run for the door.  ;)
