The C. vitellinus white;
I would prefer to call it C. candidus! Maybe it is better to check the corm first.

I agree! Shape of petals, leaves, color.

I`m just a Crocus-beginner !

Here is the source, I`ve taken over the taxon:

http://www.rareplants.co.uk/product.asp?s=hihy5m649006&P_ID=3157&strPageHistory=related

At this moment it isn`t the best time to check the corm.....

Coloration of Cr. aerius is unique !!!, I`ll try to get picts from the inside.....

Ibrahim,
eagle eye! ;D
Indeed there are strong resemblances of C. candidus with Gerhard's 'white' vitellinus originated from PC...
Corm tunics will hopefully tell what it is...

Best wishes

I’ve got a same crocus as Gerhard, from the same source in 2009. I hope these my larger pictures would be some help for your identifying. I’ll take corm tunic pics next time.

Only 2 leaves in shoot, leaves very wide, flower color - for 95% it is candidus. Indeed nice form. Wrong names are quite common for PC supplies.

I think it is clearly Crocus candidus and a very nice one. The picture on the web site also shows a C. candidus and not C. vitellianus. Unless you find it necessary to have every species this would seem a good aquisition although perhaps not at the price he charges

Crocus michelsonii is my favorite :) I got 2 small corms instead of one flowering sized corm from a nursery in 2000 and 1 corm was disappeared soon. I think all plants in this pot are same clone, but they don't bloom in same time ??? Soil temperature are different between sunny and shaded side in a pot ??? ???

many thanks for correction of white Cr. vitellinus

With angry I have found the second wrong labeled Crocus species of the same source.

This should be Cr. mathewii `Dream Dancer`, but it belongs rather to C. hadriaticus x cartwrightianus

It would be nice if somebody could show picts of true Cr. candidus , to see variations !

The only Crocus candidus I have managed to flower,I find it difficult to grow and it is just about hanging on. Sorry about the quality of the picture
