Janis Ruksans' 2011 catalogue is out!
« on: January 06, 2011, 01:06:52 PM »
I don't suppose I'm the only person to be pleased to have the new catalogue from Janis to cheer myself with on a cold damp day?
I can forward to anyone  wanting to see it....  I have reduced the text list in size to around 604KB and the photo  pdf to 1.66MB so they are a little more manageable for emailing. :)

Paper catalogue in the post or sent by email? I haven't received one yet.

I feel a disclaimer is needed: While I am happy to pass on the list, I must stress that in no way am I liable for the temptation and possible financial committment that may result from viewing this catalogue!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
You can ask email copy directly to me. Although my internet is very slow and forwarding of copy takes a lot of time, so number of copies per day is limited, I will try help you. Those, who ordered bulbs last year will receive printed copy. It will be ready at next weekend. A pair of days to pack in envelopes, to lick stamps - ant it will be on way to you.
Many thanks for great interest.
Regards
Janis

I would love to have a copy too please, though it is understood I can't order from it as we can't import live bulbs/plants, only seeds (of some things). But it would be a wonderful tonic in what is becoming a cool, damp summer. Thanks.
Yes,
but we have someone who can, Lesley!
Marcus gets things from Janis but then has to "turn them 'round" to our seasons and then needs to "bulk them up" to be able to include them in his own catalogue.
Can you send me a copy too, please, Maggi? We can always drop a hint to Marcus about something really tempting!
cheers

That's lovely Fermi.... haranguing Marcus about something he doesn't even grow yet!?  :o :o

 ;D

It could also be a way to find out what he already has coming along that we don't know about. ;)
Cheers.

There is really no need to add to Maggi's tasks. In a post above Janis stated that he would himself email a catalogue to those interested. I asked for one last night & received it first thing this morning. Thanks Janis.
Gerry passed away  at home  on 25th February 2021 - his posts are  left  in the  forum in memory of him.

I really don't mind, Gerry, I have a faster internet connection than Janis, so it is easier for me.
I have emailed Janis reduced file sizes of his original pdfs to make his emails go a little faster.... he seemed pleased with that!  :D

I feel compelled to share my experience... I did indeed run, sunny day but with high of -5C, and it worked, for the first mile or so, my brain was subjected to a "brain-freeze" with the cold, and I forgot all about the Ruksan's bulb catalog (I also forgot my name), but after the magical 1-mile point, where body-heat sets in no matter how cold outside, it all came rushing back to me, and bulb-lust was worse than ever.

McMark,

It's a bad sign that you have to go out for a run in freezing conditions to keep your bulb lust at bay...... not a good sign at all.  You've obviously got it bad and need some serious treatment.  I shall take the part of your virtual doctor and prescribe 10 plants bought from your nearest available online provider.  This should help reduce your symptoms for a little longer than the run in the cold.  ;)  Well slightly longer at least. ;D
Cheers.
