Still winter here  :'(

Some days ago I took inside a pot with Crocuses and Iris danfordiae and they are flowering now.

I bought them without a name in the autumn (this is Hungary!), except of Iris danfordiae, but I think this is Crocus angustifolius isn't it?

Does Iris danfordiae not open inside a cool room, just like snowdrops??? It seems like it will remain a bud forever...

Yesterday we had Lenka and Vojtech Holubec for a short visit with us. They were quite
amazed about the flowers which now start to flower in our relatively mild climate. There
is still winter in Prague and so they enjoyed the view. The geophytes in our meadowgarden
nauralize in the grass, we started with 4 plants of Cyclamen coum about 20 years ago and
now they spread more and more in the grass.
A sad task was the removal of 3 birches which we planted 33 years ago, one of them hang
over the cabin and the other one over the rockgarden. We tied them with a steel rope to the
heavy tractor of our good garden neighbour and he pulled them to a direction where did no
harm.
Our son is quite happy about the huge amount of firewood!

My goodness, Rudi, the birch had grown to a fine size. Your planting in the grass is beautiful.

A taste of Spring.  Iris histrioides major and I. winogradowii.  In previous years, I. histrioides major has been OTT before I winowgradowii had fully opened.  I was in luck this year.

Yes, Maggi, for once it was a planned planting.  Any other successful combinations are generally 'happy accidents'.  Often the planned ones don't end up flowering at the same time.
