Tigridia viridiflora
« on: March 14, 2011, 10:56:48 AM »
A customer send me this picture.
He said that is a Tigridia viridiflora.
I can't find anything in my books
It does not really like a tigridia
What do you think ?
Thanks

There is no mention of a Tigridia viridiflora in Molseed's monograph of Tigridia (although that was 1970 so somewhat out of date). The National Collection holder for Tigridia is Edmund Heaton in Devon, so he would know; http://www.nccpg.com/National-Collections/Collection-Results.aspx?id=950
I agree that picture doesn't look like a Tigridia - to me seems more like one of the Gesneriaceae, Kohleria perhaps??

But here you see that a client with a wrong name
can do a lot
Pity I can't grow gesneriads
there are really beauties amongst them
I can't understand they aren't more famous
Or I overlooked some topics

What a gorgeous thing it is in the first picture. Enough to scare away any beasties. Love that spotting. :D
