We have had Prunus incisa 'Kojo-no-Mai' in a pot on the patio for 11 years and it is just coming into bloom this year. We bought it to commemorate my mum and wanted something that would be in flower on the anniversary of her death. Only lately having looked at other examplkes of the plant have we noticed that all of them have had green flower stems and the flowers calyxes were also green. Those on our plant are red (see pic below) which leads us to wonder if we really have P. incisa 'Kojo-no-Mai' or an imposter? Can anyone help please?
Might the conditions in which the plant has been kept influence the calyx colour? Indoors/under cover bleaching out the red?
David, do you really mean that it is not raining.
