"STIRLING" SHOW IN DUNBLANE 19th March 2011
«

A lovely day, good company, great food and fine plants, what more could we have asked for?
Ian and I were extremely fortunate to be driven to and from the show by the kindly Angie and now we have two wee white dogs who think that being chauffered in a big car is the best thing since dog biscuits.
I have a lot of pictures, some rather onthe wobbly side. Now I know that I am infamous for my wobbly photos but this time it really isn't my fault.... the floor ofthe Victoria Hall is superbly sprung, to be ideal for dancing on, but this means that anyone walking by as a photo is taken vibrates floor, p tables , plants and photographer, so there are even more out of focus shots than I
usually provide
I'll add the pix meantime and
perhaps
return at some point in the future if time permits to add some names.

Sandy and his team were busy all day. None more so than the stalwarts in the Tea room.... what a work they put in and
how much grub do we all consume
?!
(That last part was rhetorical, by the way!)
So much work required by so many people, over and above the effort needed by the exhibitors to grow the plants and then prepare them and transport them tio the show...... a mammoth effort from all but all leading to a grand day out.

A short aside now, to the display, winning a Gold Medal, the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh. These plants are cared for by the busy Elspeth Mackintosh and were brought to the show by the RBGE's Elspeth, John Mitchell and with help from Struan Harly.

Looks like a great Show. No mention of Hanky Panky though

Forrest Medal Plant was this Trillium rivale (Purple heart group) from the Glenrothes Greenfinger himself, Cyril Lafong.
There were some good art entries but since most had shiny coverings my pix were awful.... only one I caught well was this from Forumist ChrisB... well done Christine.
Didn't see Christine all day, though she had a lovely Erythronium on the bench.... perhaps Gill Lee brought them from Northumberland for her.... I forgot to ask Gill.

Speaking of Gill Lee, that lady did as well in Section II as Cyril did in SectionI , winning a Bronze Medal and a special local Trophy for the most points in the section.
