Galanthus species cultivated in Ukraine

Hey Dimitri, fantastic pics, fantastic plants, fantastic Galanthus species. Now I know: the galanthus season ends only with flowers in Kiev, and the east border of friendly galanthophile is the Ukraine( until now). I believe in your country is the east end of G nivalis and the west end of the species, coming from the caucasus???
I never saw G. koenenianus with basal mark. But this year I found in collections plants with a basal mark too. Is this a unusual sign of only this year? Oh, I had a lot of questions to your pics.

Hey, Hagen! Many thanks! Yes! In Ukraine we have G. nivalis on its eastern limit, G. plicatus on its northern limit and G. graecus on its most northeastern limit till Nikolaev area.
It is quite usual and typical for G. koenenianus to have two marks, it is not seasonal and this feature is indicated firstly in species description. Of course, the plants of this species with only apical mark is distributed also in culture, but it is not a rule for whole species.

Thank you, John, in my snowdrop growing area  - SE Ukraine - there could be +5+10C till -20C during winter, often with hard snow, but it could be any snow with -15C..... We have very hot summer till +30+40C without rains during July-August and even September.

I must had already moved into my summer forum mode by April!  Very nice flowers Dmitri. 

Are the yellow forms proven over a few years or could they possibly have been due to lack of sunlight for one season?

Thanks, John! glad you liked them. yes, the yellow color is seasonal phenomenon caused by warm fall 2010-winter 2011 and snowy and cool March 2011, the plants outgrowed under cover and snow, so - yellow...

Anthony! it grows well at me in SE Ukraine outside. This plant is of Mediterranean climate, the agrotips are similar to those of G. ikariae, elwesii, gracilis....

I must get some more of these Mediterranean species. I'm sure they must be grown here in New Zealand, so will keep my ears and eyes open. I have some seeds of a couple of species sown earlier, so am hopeful?

it could be, Anthony))) last spring my unique bulb didn't make seeds(((

I was meaning ikariae and gracilis Dmitri. I think it will be a long time before we see trojana, not least because it will have to be assessed.

aha)) will cut my bulb in many pieces to satisfy all comers)))) this year I was endowed with some extra-bulbs (3-years seedlings) of G. trojanus, hope to get the seeds with time....
