My apologies to Matic.....I should have answered your kind query re: the various shades of Gentiana verna....

The variation in the Dolomites is enormous, from pure white through pale and Cambridge to a deep royal blue and beyond to mauve and purple...and if you can time the mausoleum walk (from Pordoi village to the imposing German war memorial) to perfection you will encounter the entire range in less than one mile.

Well, Mr. Ranunculus, fabulous pictures as usual.
I was a little afraid you would take your pictures upstairs to your garret and sit there grumbling as old
aunt Petunia leaving us here with an empty alpine thread… and : Ranunculus sounds much better for
such an Alpine Specialist than Petunia! I hope I'm not the only one thinking this way?

I heard my grandson some time ago talking about her with his friend. She seemed to be very cruel to Harry, her nephew.

Thanks Cliff! I hope I'll be able to get there, I already have so many plans for this year (visiting new places and finding/photographing interesting plants) that there's not much time left 
I really enjoy in your photos - they are very nice and they "bring some sun and colour" to foggy Ljubljana.
