Good question, Dan... I was going to get to that later!
The Blackpool Show will be held in the Collegiate High School, Blackpool Old Road, Blackpool FY3 7LS.
These are the directions given in SRGC show schedule for 2006:" Make for M6 and turn off at Junction 33 onto the A6 and head south. Turn onto the A586 signposted Blackpool. After lights at A585/A586 Jn, continue on A586 through three more sets of lights; at next set of lights turn right onto Blackpool Old Road." Sadly, there is no clue as to where we might be when urged to "make for the M6" so I am little the wiser!
I suggest you enter the postcode into
www.multimap.co.uk
and see what that tells you! Sorry not to be more help!
Regular forum Star John Forrest lives nearby and may come to our rescue with better directions!

Those instructons will certainly get you there and the only thing I can add is that after the last instruction turn right into the
first
large school on the right. As far as the M6 reference, it depends where you are coming from. Where do you live Dan? If you are coming from the south it would make no sense to use JNC 33 (in terms of mileage) except that the directions are simpler. If you want the southern instructions let me know but better still ask santa for a SAT NAV
. I got one for my 60th birthday and have all the show venues stored. Now I can chat away to my companion (usually Lionel Clarkson) whilst a lovely lady tells me where to go.(I have a lady at home who also tells me where to go from time to time
).

Thank you both for the information. We live just outside preston so not that far. Hope to see you both there.
Thanks Ellen and Dan

Not worth bothering with the car from there.
Don't forget to introduce yourself at the show. I'm usually on the computer inputting the results.

As we approach the first Scottish event of the year, at Dunblane, we realise that it is only a short hop to our first competitive show of the season.
This will, of course, be the Blackpool Show, to be held on Saturday 17th March 2007, in the Collegiate High School, Blackpool Old Road, Blackpool FY3 7LS.
This great show is one held jointly with the AGS, and this year, being and "odd year" the show will be held under SRGC rules and a Forrest Medal will be awarded.
We understand that there has been a bit of a mix-up in the AGS show schedule printing, so anyone wishing to exhibit is advised to work off the SRGC show schedule, to keep to the right track for class numbering etc.
Members of both SRGC and AGS are eligible for all prizes, medals and other awards. Points count towards seasonal aggregates and merit medals according to membership.
The show will be open for visitors from 12 noon to 4.00pm.
The Show Secretary is Lionel Clarkson, who may be contacted by email at :
LionelClarkson@agsgroups.org

For some of our English forumists and readers, Blackpool may be too far north for you ( though you should try it, you won't get a nosebleed!) so I'll do the decent thing and remind you of the Kent show, happening on the same day: AGS KENT SHOW, Rainham School for Girls, Highfield Road, Rainham, Gillingham, ME8 0BX. I imagine a few of you will be off there to enjoy yourselves... well, take your cameras and don't forget the "stay-at-homes" !!

Hi everyone, just arrived back from Tenerife in time to help at the Blackpool Show. The light ing conditions were not very good for photography and I had to use a tripod to get these shots.
First your caption competition for the 2 shots taken with a long lens during judging.
Next are some cushion plants, starting with the Forrest Medal winner, Geoff Rollinson's Saxifraga Coolock Gem. Then a rival in Lionel Clarkson's Saxifraga federici augusti ssp grisebachii. The last Sax is Cumulus.
The rest of this posting are Dionysias: Dionysia afghanica ; Dionysia microphylla x freitagii ; Dionysia 'Monika' ;
Cionysia viscidula x freitagii
More to follow...

My suggestion for the first picture. Lady in blue top says to gentlemen (OK which one of you pinched my bum)
As usual John great pictures and I look forward to some more.

John
Thanks for bringing the Blackpool Show to those of us unable to get down.
The standard looks to be very high in the cushions.
I hope to be there next year.
Did you enjoy your holiday?
Nice weather, nice food and a few drinks.
I have just been watching the rugby all day, great matches but now I find I have something to stir the soup with.

Jim Almond, who rasied Saxifraga 'Coolock Gem' must be just as pleased as Geoff Rollinson at the continued success in the medal winning stakes that this superb Sax enjoys. Congratulations to both gentlemen!
Must confess I have a soft spot for the yummy pink flowered S. 'Coolock Kate', myself. It may be a feminine preference!
As the wind gets very stormy here in NE Scotland, I hope that everyone who contributed to the Blackpool Show is now safely home and enjoying a rest!
Only 'til tomorrow, though, then we want more stories and pictures!!
