I think we missed the worst of it. Quite heavy rain and strong winds during last night but it's been fine all day (so far!) but the strong winds remain.

We'd say  "it's tipping down".... or, perhaps, "the rain is pouring down like when you empty a bucket"......... or if it goes on for a long time.....the rain is tipping  down like when you empty a bath". ;D ;D ;D

Or pouring, or teeming, or coming down in sheets. There must be more terms for raining than for most things. ::)

my weather station marked 33.4 C Sunday fermi and i'm just outside london by heathrow..
