Our Sympathy to all Norwegian Members
« on: July 23, 2011, 07:32:18 PM »
Having mentioned in the 'Moan, moan' thread yesterday about how trivial things annoy us and then we are hit with news ofsuch terrible events that are a million times worse like the bombing and massacre in Norway yesterday, it seems incredible that today the death toll is even worse than it first appeared - and that was bad enough.
Of course our sympathy goes to those caught up in natural disaters like the earthquakes which hit and continue to hit New Zealand and Japan but these ghastly outrages, perpetrated by some mad fool do not only inspire sorrow and sympathy, it is very hard for it not also to create anger against anyone who could sink to such a crime.  We have so many Norwegian friends and forumists that I fear there will surely be those affected by these appalling events who are closely connected with the SRGC. To you all I am sure I speak for us all here when I pass on my condolences to all affected, whether directly or indirectly, by this horrific happening.

Thank you, Maggi
The whole country is in shock. And everybody ask the same.. how could this happen. But I think, its very difficult to protect  the society from mad people. And this is an etniic Norwegian who obvisuoly has gone totally crazy. It seems he is a right wing extremist and very critical towards the way the Socialist party and gouvernmen handle the immigration from muslim countries. None of my family or friends were in the drama. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost their children.

You certainly speak for us Maggi.  With due respect to NZ, Japan and other countries, natural disasters are, unfortunately, a way of life, which does not detract from their seriousness and impact, but something like this, and the enormity of the loss of young lives is something one should never have to expect, and certainly something that it is hoped will never happen again. To all our Norwegian friends, our deepest sympathy. May your spirit gain strength during the months ahead and may your deceased rest in peace.

Magnar,

We have watched this story being updated on our television news and on the internet since yesterday and the horror grew and grew as the hours passed. It is so particularly tragic that so many young people have been lost to their families and friends.

I have nobody else nor any other way to express my sympathy to the people of Norway and so can only express my sympathy to you and through you as the representative Norwegian of the forum.

Thank you Maggi for expressing what we all feel. Earthquakes, floods and the like being natural disasters leave us with no-one to blame but this latest thing makes for quite debilitating anger. We feel so impotent to help and can only sympathize. Norway will be in our thoughts and in the prayers of those who pray in faith, for many days and weeks to come.

Thank you all for your concern and kind thoughts. I do not know anybody directly affected by this horrific deed, but it has been a terrible few days for everybody. Like Magnar, I think all of Norway is shocked, appalled, and deeply saddened.

No word to describe this horror. I travelled in Norway and Oslo  in 1980 june, and nobody can imagine such terrific acts in this country representative of the peace. All our thoughts and heart to Norwegian people

It's mind boggling to think this nutter can actually try and justify his actions. Right-wing Christian is the ultimate oxymoron, but the word 'fundamentalist' sums it up.

Words fail me to express how utterly sad I feel about the terrible massacre and bomb attack in Norway. Maggie, you said it all.

It is difficult to understand why it took the authorities so long to intervene. We learn from interviews with the Norwegian police that appropriate helicopters are available to the military, not them. Priorities?

Why all this hate??? What went wrong with this bastards brain??? Just revolting.
I'm inarticulate with rage. So sad.
My sympathy is with the Norwegian nation and condolences with the innocent victims.
Best wishes
