1. Unexpected Colchicum  davisii flower.

Maybe not a bigger pot.  The flower buds on Colchicums are initiated  from the base of the bulb.  It could be that the bud "saw" the light from the drainage hole and took the shortest distance to the light.

I agree, Arnold. 
Colchicum do form their flower growths from side and base and so they often make this sort of determined "escape" from their pots. You've got to applaud their initiative!

Mark, why your tessellated flowers can`t be AUTUMN QUEEN. I cannot find differences. May be it is the time of flowering?

Hagen there is no reason it can not be Autumn Queen. Will I measure flowers?

I let it stay in the pot. I am not that experienced with colchicum in pots, most of them are in the garden. I got two davisii bulbs last year and as I didn't know how hardy it is, one was potted and the other planted in the garden.

They don't look poor to me Franz , very healthy and nice plants ...
Here in flower : C. autumnale 'Lysimachus' and Colchicum troodii .

Thanks Luc , I like it myself ... Grows in the same habitat as the very fine Cyclamen cyprium in the Troodos mountains in Cyprus .

The colchicum season  starts outside with a lot of types this year.

I don't know its name Hagen, but I do know the plant in picture lives the place I looked. The taker of photo said it was end of august 2010 so yesterday I went to same place but couldnt find any colchicum.
