Angie,
Just to reassure you that I didn't mind you mentioning Dexter.
Graham
Graham that's good. I thought you wouldn't mind. Just thought it would be hard for you to speak about Dexter, folks here will have been wandering where you had gone to, I certainly had.

Today my dog ate my toffee crisp today paper and all. The phone rang and I placed it on my mushroom stone outside, two minutes on the phone and it was gone.
He new he shouldn't have but I can't give him into trouble hes to old and it wasn't my last toffee crisp.

Chris he is fine. Last week was a different story he got to a cow pack before I could stop him. Now that makes him, well you can guess.

Lesley I very seldom answer my phone when I am out in the garden. 90% is sales and of no interest to me. My mobile stays in my car, just for emergencies.

Tomorrow I will go to Hans Kramer in Ede. Is it possible to meet some of you? Loes maybe? They are very lucky with the weather. It will be the best day of the week. In the afternoon there will be a lecture from Fergus Garret, headgardener at Great Dixter. I am looking forward to that. Harry Jans will give a lecture called: plantexpedition to the roof of the world.

Yesterday we had a great day at the Hessenhof in Ede. First there was an interesting lecture given by Harry Jans. He showed us the roof of the world, Nepal. After that there was a lecture by Fergus Garret about Great Dixter. What he told us in 1 hour everybody else would have needed 2 hours. My favorite picture was  with the shirts of Christopher. They were purple, red, green, bleu or yellow. All the colours he liked also in the garden. At the nursery everything was in perfect condition, as you can see in the pictures. We went home with a car packed with plants and left overs from our picnic.

Recovering from our trip last weekend to the superb nursery of Hans Kramer "De Hessenhof", just north of Ede central Holland. This event was attended by 13 nurseries from Holland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Scotland and England offering mainly a great variety of perennials but also alpines, bulbs and woodland plants. The weather on Saturday was very hot when we estimate 5,000 people visited, the Sunday was cooler and wet but still estimate 2000 people were present. Below some images taken on the Sunday - too hot & busy on the Saturday. The first image shows Ron recovering just after the Lamberton Nursery sign board fell onto his head - hence the glazed look.  ::)
Now preparing for Ron & Susan's Open Weekend this Saturday/Sunday - we hope many will visit and give them a grand farewell.

I too hope that the weekend will be a real corker, Rob.... hope you all have a great time.
Your Dutch visit seems to have been enjoyed by all  (falling signs not withstanding!)

Great to hear more about these special weekends - am looking forward to coming up to Lamberton on 10th. They really show how much the specialist nurseries are at the heart of our gardening, so perhaps the tide might be beginning to turn against the cult of the Garden Centre! Since Fergus Garrett was mentioned they are holding a similar event at Great Dixter on 1st and 2nd October with some great nurseries attending.
