Dundee Flower Show
« on: September 01, 2011, 09:17:03 PM »
Just a reminder that the Dundee Food & Flower Show is being held at Camperdown Country Park, Dundee on 2-4 September, 2011.

This is a great show with huge show classes and national competitions for cut flowers, vegetables - as well as cacti, succulents, bonsai and, yes, even alpines.

There are a large number of trade stands, events, music, cooking, show gardens, plant theates and lectures by gardeners such as Monty Don
1000-1800hrs per day. More details on 01382 434940.

See for an earlier report of this showhttp://www.srgc.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=2494.0

Yemen, what a country ... Haraz mountains, Socotra, Sana'a, Hadramaut, the empty quarter.... a country of stunning, mind altering beauty...and the friendliest of people.

some snaps of the show starting with the Alpine section which  didn't  have many entries  thus my success though  Alan Weepers  won  the fern and conifer classes and W Johnston had a display of Sempervivums. Then some pictures of the many fuchsias, display boards and cut flowers.

and a few more: chrysanths,  dahlias and veg are all very typical of traditional autumn shows.

Where to start when there is so much colour and quality on show?  Well, that display of potatoes is quite something, isn't it..... very impressive range.
I can almost feel the scent of the flowers in the marquees. Thanks for taking us along, Stan.... and congratulations!

Lovely photos Stan - it makes me want to grow dahlias again (if only I had the space!)
I thought photo 012 was a cake or trifle - it looked good enough to eat until I enlarged it.  :D
Actually it still looked good enough to eat, but then I'll eat anything.  ::)
