Roy Elliott Memorial Lecture 19 Nov 2011

The Roy Elliott Memorial Lecture will take place on 19 November 2011 at the Holy Name Parish Centre, Great Barr, Birmingham.  Doors open at 1pm, lectures start at 2pm.  
The lectures this year are:

Cliff Booker: Alpines in Focus
and
Peter Korn: Building for Growing

The event is FREE  to all.  
Nursery stall by John (Jacques) Armand, also member's plant stall, refreshments, raffle, etc.

No word yet from the folks heading for the Roy Elliott Memorial Lecture event.... hope everyone is home safely after some great talks? May still be some en route, I suppose (or still in a nearby hostelry??  )


The same may hold true for the NRV day as well.... will nip off to the VRV/NRV Forum to see if there's anything there....

We had a fantastic day with two brilliant (and very different) lectures from two forumists:
Cliff Booker who dazzled us with his photographs    
and Peter Korn who amazed us with his energy  
Thanks to the lecturers and also to everyone who came along, especially those who made the journey from distant places.

Many thanks Diane for a super day ... the organisation, hospitality and friendliness couldn't have been improved and Peter Korn's lecture proved an inspiration to everyone.  A trip to Sweden in early summer is now imperative.

Only last night Maureen and I were talking about the possibility of a few days in Gothenberg late next spring.

David, while I haven't been myself, some of my nicest friends are in Gothenberg and its environs! Ian, (who has been several times and who has EVERY intention of returning as often as he can) speaks VERY highly of his trips there.

There is so much to do in the area, the Botanic Garden... and others.... boat trips.... museums..... I'm told there are even shops!

He'll be back in 2013 for sure, if not before....... there's a special event at the  Got. Bot. Garden.....every ten years the Sällskapet Trädgårdsamatörerna (the Swedish Society of Amateur Gardeners) is  arranging a conference with an alpine theme in collaboration with the Alpine Department at the Botanic Gardens. The next occasion will be from 30th May to the 1st June 2013.
