Is this an allium?
« on: November 26, 2011, 10:44:24 PM »
This is growing in Texas right now. The inset on the right shows a close-up of the flowers, the inset on the left shows the perspective against a penny. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alan.

I suppose it would help the identification if I uploaded a photo. Spare a thought for age folks.

It could also be Nothoscordum inodorum, although I do think it is N. bivalve. Years ago when I corresponded regularly with Thad Howard in Texas, he showed me pictures of N. bivalve growing by the acre, also sent me some bulbs of a very rare pink form.

Both N. inodorum and bivalve can be regarded as invasive.

It is N. bivalve. Is it flowering right now?

Thank you so much. Such info is essential to know if I am growing it properly.
