Cultivation of Primula maximowiczii ?

Hi all ,

I have just received a parcel from a nice forum member ....he has sent me some seedlings of Primula maximowiczii 

Now I have a problem ....how I should cultivate this plants ? ( I grow only some common Primula in our garden ) ....so I have no knowledge about this nice plants 

Which kind of soil ? ( acid or lime )
Which pots ? ( clay or plastic )
Which temperature in winter ? ( I could put it in my greenhouse with a minimum of 5 ° )
Watering in winter ?

I would be glad for any help - thank you in advance !

It grows wild in mountain bogs around Beijing, so hardiness is certainly not an issue. Go for moist and acid.

like Bjørnar said is perfect.  I should add that they did not like the few hot and humid days we had in my garden this year.
They all died in two weeks during which the temps went up to 30°C and humidity was high  , luckily they had flowered and set seed  . So I'll have more in the following years.

They do benefit from being divided regularly, I've lost quite a few to rot when the clumps get too large and the dead foliage starts building up. Not sure they're that long-lived in nature either, but it doesn't really matter as they are dead easy to raise from seeds and will flower in their first year if started inside in March/April.

I will follow  your advices and look what happens .....
I'm not shure if this plants are so well for my climate ( Banana belt of Germany ) ...we have in summer often more than 30 ° ....I will plant it in spring on a cool and shady place !

  Have you tried growing bananas ?  Very nice plants but a bit big for a rock garden 

If you plant them cool and shady, that should be okay.

Interesting, you really do grow bananas     (Well, the trees at least  )

Those last two grow here in Flanders too
