Here the season is by no means earlier than in former years, presumeably due to the dry weather. We had no rain for weeks. But with the storm came the rain this week. So the Hiemalis Group could get out. And Galanthus elwesii 'Kyre Park' is as early as G. pl. 'Three Ships' , both not open yet.

Thomas, snowdrops seem to be a little ahead here this year but then last year and the year previous were two particularly cold winters and so this year is early simply by comparison with these latter two,  perhaps.

Two from the garden today. One was  only just showing a few days ago when Luc posted his shots - 'Colossus' but it has come along quickly in the last few warm days.

'X-Files' looks fascinating, Paddy. The name sounded unfamiliar to me, but then I looked into the book "Snowdrops" and found it. Even after ten years of reading I do not know the bible by heart ... :-)

Hi all. we have some Snowdrops flowering here as well G Colosus is out Mrs MacNamara Three ships Fieldgate Prelude nearly out and some G plicatus from the Castle, most of there flowered in March this year I hope the ones we have last as it is now Baltic with snow and ice, someone says that the temperature is about to rise and it will be warm for Santa maybe he will bring you all a special snowdrop,  will get some pictures when possible,  cheers Ian the Christie kind.

I am surprised you can see any snowdrops at all as the weather reports have lead me to believe you are in a white-out.

We had a fabulously warm and sunny day here today - I was walking on the beach in my shirtsleeves.

Hi all, yes we have had some very difficult days here we had snow then rain last night this froze which made the roads like glass. I am amazed that the snowdrops are so far ahead it is a pity that the light today was dire caused by a thick wet mist will take pictures soon.

Quite the opposite of your experience, Ian, it was a lovely day; I spent the afternoon in the garden catching up on a number of small jobs which had been put on the long finger. The warm conditions encouraged G. elw. mono. Hiemalis Group to open.

Glad someone had decent weather....very damp here and only got up to 3 degrees, not the 12 the weather forecaster promised....

G.Comet is in flower here,very mild at the moment.

The first of our Irish snowdrops opened here today - Galanthus 'Castlegar', one found by the late Dr. Keith Lamb who, along with his wife, Helen, died during this last year. It is one I will always treasure as it will keep his memory with me. He was a most wonderful man, an outstanding gardener and he made an immense contribution to gardening in Ireland.

Depends what you call decent M.  Certainly 12 here, more in the sunshine.  It will con the plants into thinking it is Spring ....    Give me some decent winter weather in Nov/Dec/Jan and I might be happy

Yes, the stop/start weather is a real pest for the plants... I was, rather selfishly, I know..... thinking of the people when hoping for "decent" weather.... I don't like rain!
