What American Fritillaria ?

I enclose here a picture which I made in California in June 1997 on a slide (!). I intend to place now some pictures from that trip to my web page and transfered them to digital form. This is some Fritillaria but I am not able to recognize the species. The picture was not too good on a slide and now it is even worse. Anyhow, could somebody help me with its identification?

Are you sure that is not an Epipactis?

looking at the leaf i agree with maggi it does look like an epipactis.. but it could be something like Fritillaria sewerzowii or similar, pity it's not a bit clearer...

There is clearly a large ovary behind the flower. Flower colour is right for Epipactis. Foliage is right.

Not too many chances to photograph Fritillaria sewerzowii in the wild in the US of A  ;)
