It's that time of the year again.  

I won't be able to visit as many places this year but will try and post some pictures of the places I do manage to get to.

My Galanthus wanderings started on Saturday with a trip to Kew Gardens.  I met up with some of my jungle gardening friends for a behind the scenes visit to the glass houses that are not open to the public.  But I insisted we spent the first hour looking at the snowdrops.   They humoured me! 

The very first snowdrop I saw there was a pretty little double with the label 'John Gray'!  

We then walked around the massive rock garden looking at the main plantings of drops.

4 - A nice little nivalis.  I think it was probably just doing this in its last days of flowering - but it looked attractive.

10 - a light coloured elwesii (deficient in something I wondered or always like this?...)

Also my beloved green waterproof over-trousers have  given up their waterproofness  ( thank you bow saw ! )  So you all shall have to put up with my new purple waterproof over-trousers .

I think they will look great with my new VERY ORANGE stihl waterproof coat  and snowdrop hat, you wont be able to miss me

Atkinsii flowing between the rocks looks great, has given me an idea for the other bank in the walled garden

Lovely pictures John,   those G woronowii in particular look much better than the usual ones the garden centres sell in pots.  They have a really long flower, rather like some gracilis flowers.

Looking forward to more of your adventures (and photos) this year, a cracking start. I agree with Jo's comment, those woronowii look totally different to mine, much slimmer and more elegant. They are also much earlier, mine are only just showing, but of course that may be due to my cold heavy soil.
