Bryan, I will email Stuart Pawley to see if he can shed any light on the matter.
It may take some time to get a reply.
A reply back from Stuart:
Meconopsis 'Wysiwyg' comes from Jim Forbes near
Cupar; I've never met up with him. About 3 years ago
he sent M. grandis pink form and a photo, the latter I
sent to Evelyn Stevens - it was looking more like a napaulensis,
1.5m, but is perennial; seeds are not grandis-like. Next year I
gave it a name, a name which was not universally understood!
The name .........has been adopted.
I have had one or two germinations this
year, so I don't think it is sterile, though I don't think Jim is
propagating from seed; so it is all from the same plant, and
my hope is that members will get it established. I would not
expect it to be very variable.
Hope this helps, Cheers, Stuart
