Adonis 2012

Last year Wim Boens made a fantastic article about Japanese Adonis, particular amurensis cultivar. The article was for Flemish Rock Garden Society (
www.vrvforum.be
) and it was on Dutch a language I unfortunately do not understand, but Google translate was a big help, not translated correctly but I understand mostly the whole article.
In Wim’s article there’s a mistake about the cultivar 'Tsume-origase' and it's mentioned twice, once as ‘Tsume orikasa' and once as 'Tsumaori-gasa' but Wim wrote to me and say they are both the same.
In Wim’s article he wrote that there is four species of Adonis in Japan and all four are been used in those cultivars as we know as amurensis.
My first Adonis in 2012, flowers and I got it in a pot in one of my greenhouses where there are at least 5 degrees. Outside in the garden which is now covered with snow, but before the snow came, I could see several buds at the Adonis. I look forward to spring.

Thanks for the praising words, Karl.
I couldn't have done it without the help of a lot of gardening friends, though. And most of them are a part of this wonderful forum too...so my sincere thanks go out to them!!
It was Tatsuo Yamanaka who pointed out that
'Tsume-orikasa'
is the same as and should be ''Tsumaori-gasa''.
Anyhow, it's a wonderful cultivar as you can see in the picture of Karl!

Wonderful, Karl.
Especially love A. 'Haku Ho', I'm really into those "white" forms!
A. 'Haku Ho' and A. 'Hinode' are selected forms of Adonis ramosa.

Nice to see some of these exotic plants I have never seen in person! This and the Hepatica thread both very interesting...

Wonderful collection, Karl. Your Adonis season is starting earlier than ours! Mine are still in bud or just appearing from the soil!

the adonis make a great display in spring.
It is a pleasure to see them growing so prolific with you.
