My snowdrop web site update
« on: February 03, 2012, 04:42:50 PM »
Just now I uploaded 70+ new photos to my web site. Don't look now

I have to edit the gallery listing. I have very poor internet just now so it may take a while.

There have been lots of photos appearing on the forum that I can use. Can I lift what I need and credit you, the forum member, without asking permission for each photo?

When the swifts arrive empty the green house

All photos taken with a Canon 900T and 230

I am sure I haven't posted anything you don't already have (maybe 'Potter's Prelude') but you are welcome to use my photos with credit.  Carolyn

I haven't posted any good photos so far this year but you can have a blanket permission Mark (anyone else, please ask first).  Just please correct the name of "Bill Clark" in your gallery.

It'll be changed with my new update.

Good point Alan, didn't think of that.  Anyone else who wants to use my photos, such as they are, please ask first.  Thanks.

Mark, I hope you have everything backed up. If your computer is very old, you may be getting problems with the hard drive rather than the operating system.

Try a System Restore to a time before your problems arose.

and sudden freezing

Check you didn't leave the front door open.

I was assuming you'd already tried system restore, Mark. Obviously that's your first port of call, but if you're still getting blue screens then it may be the hard drive. Do you have a facility on your computer (or a disc) to do a clean re-install of the operating system? You could try that, then re-install your programmes. But it might still be the hard disk.

Mark - welcome to use any of mine - not that I have posted many, but you did ask about Hugh Mackensie last year.  Go ahead and use whatever you wish

Make sense that Mark...

Esp if you take images in raw format...they can be large files...

if you're still getting blue screens then it may be the hard drive.

If it's because your hard drive is failing then there is no point in doing a factory settings reset.  Replace the hard drive, clone the old one to the new one and run chkdsk to try to fix the disk errors.  Do a factory settings reset with the new hard drive if this fails but be aware in most instances that wipes all your files, photos etc.

If you can still move the mouse pointer around for a while as the computer starts to freeze then it may well be your hard drive.  If everything on the display suddenly freezes then it may well be your graphics adaptor.

For more clues, right click (My) Computer and select Properties.  Click the Advanced tab in the Window that appears (or Click Advanced System Settings), then click the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery section and, if necessary, remove the tick from the box that says Automatically Restart on System Failure.  Then next time you get a BSOD send me a PM telling me what it says on the blue screen and I'll try to diagnose it for you.
