I was sure it was embroidery.... until I followed the link.
Lois' description of a "crop circle in the snow" is terrific.... I never saw this type of work before.... it is just like  crop circles  .. but tougher to do, I suppose, and certainly beautifu... and a lot of fun, too.

Here's an image I made many years ago -- before all those filters became common in PhotoShop -- in a style I called "LineArt".  It started life as a photo of a red rose, and then I messed with it.  (Unfortunately, I no longer have the original image to compare it to.)  Hope you like this!

A couple of months ago I saw a news clip about an exhibition by David Hockney in which he had created images using his iPad and an App callled Art Studio.
So I downloaded the app and after a few minutes doodling around with the various brushes etc. I created the image below.

I have found it much more difficult to create anything else but will keep trying. Perhaps thinking too much and trying to create something more perfect now and not just letting it happen.

I love it, Graham.  Ian has recently bought an i-pad and is having a wonderful time "painting" on it.
Fantastic what you can do with these apps.

My art is usually very detailed and I find it difficult to be 'free'. The iPad app allows for detailed art but it takes some getting used to.

Then perhaps you need to try a little more to be free.....  change is as good.... and all that..... ... and you were just saying in another thread that your garden is too tidy.... perhaps you need to have a go at making your art less "tidy" too  ( have I told you about my previous existence as an art reviewer? )

Out of comfort zone I've tried but get frustrated when it doesn't go right. Perhaps the 'back' button on the iPad will help. Mistakes can easily be deleted!

Like the spare tyre cover sometimes seen in NZ and perhaps elsewhere. It says "If a man speaks in the forest and there is no woman there to hear him, is he still wrong?" I saw one at the weekend where someone had added, in chalk "Of course."
