Scilla 2012
« on: February 19, 2012, 03:15:29 PM »
I want to show their first success in the selection Scilla sibirica. This is the result of crosses white and lilac forms.

May I ask, is Scilla gorganica still a recognised species and is it still in cultivation?

I don't know if there was an name change.
I still grow the pale blue one. I think Janis has the white one.

Thank you Luc. I have been searching around and can find very little reference to it anywhere. I thought I read somewhere that it had been moved out of Scilla, but I cannot re-find where I read that :-[.

Ron, the place to look is The Plant List
Scilla gorganica, S greilhuberi, S hohenackeri, and a few others are now in Fessia although I have not seen many people using this new genera

I was searching for an ID for this one....We have seen this Scilla in NE Turkey on Kaçkar Mts near Ayder . I think the height was around 2300m .
Many thanks.

Kris, nice upward facing scilla :D

Here are Scilla ingridiae, from JJA Seeds. Ex. a N. Stevens coll. Turkey, SE of Kahramanmaras (according to the seed list descriptions). The last pic is with S. armena. Last season, Janis mentioned this S. ingridiae something like S. armena, so I bought an armena bulb from him for a comparison ;)
