Two stocks of Scilla winogradowii - my favourite Scilla.
Janis
Janis, have you changed your mind?

As far as I can see, this years Scilla-thread is still a bit short.
All the more I am delighted by your photos of this marvellous Scilla!
Thank you!

You have mentioned the variation in colour over different climatic conditions, Janis.
Here is a comparison to the new Scilla from 2010...

Yes Maggi, comparing both you can see that flowers this year are darker, but leaves paler. It depends mostly from temperature. Of course the light at picturing moment makes some corrections, too. Today is cloudy, cold and no sun at all.

Roma,

Is that white Scilla bythinica, or another species mixed in.  If white, I'm guessing I've missed the fact that there is a white form. ???  It looks great.

Janis,

Great colours, definitely as you say a great pink, and that deep blue is brilliant.  Colour reminds me of sibirica ssp taurii, but shape isn't right.  Thanks for showing us.
Cheers.

Yes, Paul that is a white Scilla bithynica.  I started off with a group of white and group of blue but they have been self seeding and are getting mixed now.  They were growing under raspberry plants but I have removed the rasps and have yet to decide where I am putting the Scilla when I rearrange that part of the garden.  One thing for sure they are not to be allowed near where I have most of my ornamental plants.  Crocus pulchellus, Lilium martagon and Tulipa sprengeri are enough bulbous 'weeds' for that area

Scilla bythinica and Lilium martagon are the kind of weeds I wouldn't object to  ;D
Particularly when S. bythinica is a white form.
