Scilla/Prospero intermedia and autumnale are flowering today.

Poul

See reply below...
Ups!
I just found out that it was not Scilla intermedia (or more correct Prospero obtusifolium subsp. intermedium) that I showed in a previous post :-[. It is Barnardia numidica (Scilla numidica). Here are the pics with correct names.
Prospero obtusifolium subsp. intermedium has just poked through the gravel. I will post a pic when it is in flower. To my excuse its flowers are very similar to Barnardia numidica's.

This is really early Poul, i still have to wait until October!

By the way Scilla intermedia is now Prospero obtusifolium subsp. intermedium,
one of these cases where name is longer than the plant itself...

Yes, there are many nice species and I find most of them easy to grow. Nicole, if you are interested, I have spare bulbs (or seeds) of many of them. Unfortunately they are in growth now so you have to wait until next year.

Yes, it is earlier than normal. But autumn comes earlier here in the north, so it is not extraordinary.
We had a hot and dry May followed by a relative cold and rainy July, so now many of the bulbs think it's autumn.

Thanks for the name correction!

Wow Poul that looks quite an impressive Scilla.  This was the best we managed when we had the bulbs. This is a 3 inch pot.

Thank you Shelagh, but yours have a very nice, deep colour!
I grow mine in a 10 cm square pot, and it seem quite happy. I have only a poor pic to show how it look now, but here it is.
