Lovely, Janis.

I love the flore plena.  One the longistipitata, does the red on the outside of the petals stay when the flower opens?  That red-bronze colour in itself is excellent, but the reddish backing to the petals would be interesting.  How does it look once open?

Thanks for the pics.
Cheers.

Min winter temp -8 or -9°C. Max summer temp 40°C. Thankfully, maybe once or twice a year only.

That's a more attractive Eranthis hymalis Flore Plena than others I have seen.  Is it a named cultivar?
Almost in Scotland.

Here Eranthis longistipitata from Khirghizia and Iranian form as I found it in wild. For first time I saw Iranian plant in Gothenburg Botanical Garden and I was surprised for its color. So I specially searched for it in Iran. It was quite late in season but on side of deep ditch, protected from sun I found this last flower and collected a sample from there. I'm very happy that it alive with me. There are no sun today, so I still can't see how looks its inside. It is first time when it flowers with me.

Yes indeed. I've only ever seen E. stellata with (pinkish-blueish) coloured anthers!
There are albino forms of E. pinnatifida too (without anthocyanin)...see post of Tatsuo here: http://www.srgc.org.uk/forum/index.php?topic=8447.msg230498#msg230498

Eranthis - research project- help needed
« Reply #29 on: May 11, 2012, 10:10:17 AM »
Eranthis growers, this request has come in for help with samples for a research project. I have so far been unable to find anyone to assist Mark Roh in this... can any of you help?

"I am now working with my colleagues in Korea for molecular work with Eranthis.

We are looking for Eranthis sibirica and "Eranthis longistipitata"   All we need a leaf sample  - about 3 to 4 leaves packed in silica gels.  We will cover all expenses to get leaf samples and get samples mailed to Korea (address will be given later).

Would any of your members be able to help us?  If leaf samples won't be available, we can receive seeds at costs, and then try to germinate later to get leaves.

We desperately need leaf samples.  If we can get this species, we will be very happy.

Please, please help, since this is not common.

My best regards,

Mark".
