Hi,

I tend to make these myself. Get some appropriate wire, wind round a wooden kitchen spoon twice, then trim to length.
The wire used in this example is rather thin, 1mm wire is better.

I make my own too, just as Maren says. I use aluminium wire, as used for welding, but any reasonably stiff wire you can bend is OK.

Maren,

And a great little avert as well.  ;D ;D  I had to chuckle.... the perfect example of a card to hold, and a perfect opportunity for an advert as well.  Well done!!  8) 8)

Roger makes mine when I need them for show pots. He has a gadget which can make wire into various shapes. He hasn't let me loose on it. But the ones in David's link sound good, and a lot at a very reasonable price.

Paul, it did not occur to me at the time but I can see now that someone might get the wrong end of the stick... I have changed the picture now. :) :) :)

If anyone wonders what this is all about, my original picture contained my business card. ::)

Oh no Maren, put it back. How could anyone be offended? It was just a little card and surely we can say what we do. Several Forumists here and on other Fora give what they call a "short commercial announcement" and there are many links to nurseries and other commercial sites. I'm all for spreading the information around myself and I certainly wasn't offended, just thought it was a smart way to show your wire clips and demonstrate how they worked. You can be TOO sensitive. :)

Maren,

Please, I was by no means complaining.  Not in the slightest!!!!  I was drawing attention to the contents of your card as much as anything, as it illustrated it perfectly and I thought people should read the card as well.  I'm all for discrete commercial announcements, and yours was definitely discrete.  Please do not feel that I was in any way complaining about it.... I'm so glad you've put the original back as well.  Apologies for my humour, it was not meant to offend you. ::)
Cheers.

Just one comment about these label pins: if they have only one "leg", they tend to move or twist round as the compost dries out or gets watered. If they have 2 legs, they tend to stay facing the same way. Of course, it also depends on the length of the leg and the weight of the label. The longer the leg(s) and the lighter the label, the more stable. :) :) :)

Maren - Florists here use these label pins to hold cards in gift plants. They are however clear plastic as a rule but some have two legs.

These are the two-legged ones Roger makes for me. They are photographed on a sheet of A4 which gives an idea of the leg length but this can be anything needed. Pictured inside in the shade, the outside one is in bright sun so the true berry colour is about half way between the two. One legged are fine for show pots as the edge of the card sits on the edge of the pot.

Wow that's what i call a bunch of answers!

Maren: superb idea for a nice result, the only problem is i need to do that for 250 pots and my time is precious.

David: thak you for the link i think i'll buy at this store, compared to what i've see in belgium or france, the price is reasonable and the size is perfect. I also used zinc holders with 2 legs bought in usa, but it was made from low quality metal and the pines "rotten" only in 2 years.

Lesley: this model with 2 legs are well design, it looks strong enough to survive outside a greenhouse.

Mark: thank you for your offer, i can ask my brother in law, living in Northampton, to send you stamps for shipping to France.

thank you all for these advices!
