I'd love to come, but I might be a wee bit busy at Hexham.  ::)

Family commitments this weekend I'm afraid.  I would like to go to both of these excellent shows (but not on the same day ... well, not without using air miles anyway)!!!   :D

Some pictures from Exeter today. Weather cloudy but dry and cooler than of late. Plenty of good stuff on the benches but didn't seem to be the usual Show 'hubbub'. May have been as a result of the fuel situation and a clash with the Cornwall Spring Flower Show and a Plant Heritage 'do' in Somerset. We hardly sold a plant on the member's Plant Stall after 1.30PM.

Hall 1 & 2, very good light.

Daphne 'Collinton Crown' (D. x eschmanni x D. petraea) Raised by Cyril Lafong and Exhibited by Robin White. Farrer (I think, or was told but didn't seen the certificate) and a Certificate of Preliminary Commendation. (whatever that might mean!)

Primula kialensis (a new one on me) First for Peter Summers in Class 101

Hepatica 'Millstream Merlin' First in Class 82 for Audrey Dart

Trillium rivale-grown from seed sown 18/08/2000- First for Lee and Julie Martin in Class 74

My, some cracking plants there. I think you are so lucky with all the natural light that comes into the  show hall there, David.
Townsendia spathulata 'Cotton Ball' from Dorothy Sample is a beauty.

Methinks a note will need to be sent to the Joint Rock committee etc ... because I think Cyril's Daphne should be a COLINTON with one "l" not two. (It refers to where he lives.)

What a fat pot of Iris suaveolens  :D

Super primula... can we be sure that Jean did not embroider the whole thing in 3D ? ;)

Yes, I don't think I mis-read it Maggi. I typed it from an image of the certificate I took, I can't re-check as I've since deleted it.

Well done Maggie G. for that debut triumph, a lovely pot of pleione.

'Solveig's Song'  is smart.

Well, always a soft spot for a fine  Erythronium here... but extra nice to see Jon getting a chance to stage a good plant as well as take agreat picture!

I don't think you mis-read it either, David :  I can just about make out the Collinton on the picture.

Wonderful images David. Thanks for posting.  Did I miss the Best in Show?  Was a Farrer awarded?
