Don't you know Ron, that Maggi slopes off to Perugia (via Belgium) most weekends? ;D

I have not had a single Easter egg! This is not a way of admitting to multiple eggs, but a declaration of strong will and determination to lose a few kgs over the next 12 months. My only chocolate has been one from a small box someone gave to Roger LAST Easter, which shows how addicted HE is. Maybe I can beat this thing yet!  But I do wish all Forumists (and lurkers) a wonderful Easter with gardening weather whether in the northern spring or the southern autumn.

We in NZ have a couple of interesting events, both based on Central Otago, up the road an hour or two from here. Nothing to do with chocolate though.

One is the biennial "Warbirds over Wanaka," a magnificent airshow with all kinds of planes (about 65 this year) taking part especially including restored WW1 and WW2 planes. It is hugely popular, 45,000 people there yesterday (Sat) and more expected today and tomorrow.

The other is the now annual "Great Easter Bunny Shoot." (Bunny lovers turn away now.) Over more than a century rabbits have destroyed huge tracts of the Central Otago landscape and many farmers and run-holders were forced to walk away from their land. Some 25 years ago, a group of local land owners got together and went on an organized shoot over the area and bagged many thousands of rabbits. Gradually this event became known and is now a big international thing with teams of shooters from many countries, even including from the US marines! How no-one has been shot is a miracle I think, so many people in the area, all shooting like mad but it is exceptionally well organized and regulated and over the years has gradually made for some control over the rabbit population in the area. Literally millions of rabbits have been shot over the time.

There will be links to these events for anyone wanting to know more but I'm not good at copy/cut and paste. It always seems to go wrong on me. >:(

We could use some of those shooters in our street, Lesley! The bunnies are getting into our garden nowadays as they realise there are no longer any dogs on this property! >:(
I've always thought that an appropriate Easter meal would be a rabbit and boiled egg casserole - anyone got a recipe? ;D
Happy Chockie Egg-Day, Everyone!

Happy Easter. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that New Zealand shuts on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Must play havoc with the fresh produce in supermarkets to have two days with nothing moving off the shelves!
