The weather was wet so the tent at the entrance to Bells sports hall  was needed by  local group members on door duty. Inside the hall the lady president was seen to be making  less than ladylike gestures while it is not clear why Mrs Young was on her knees in front of Mr Mattingley- possibly hoping he would treat her to some of the excellent hone baking available? Meanwhile  Mr and Mrs Caudwell were  adding up the points on the show computer.

fortunately  the plants were better behaved than some of the people.
Cyril's Cypripedium Ursel with its Forrest medal card.
He also had the  best bulb with a large Erythronium
and best Asiatic primula with P. bracteata-the Bobby Masterton trophy
then the Caird trophy for the 6 pan Class 1
and the Ulster Quaich which is for  the best cushion plant - this trophy  rotates round the shows
Sam Sutherland won the Dundas Quaich for the big 3 pan Class 3 in which his Astragalus  also achieved a merit certificate
Margaret & Henry Taylor had the Perth trophy for most points by a Perthshire member - in this case two members
Ian Christie's Trillium chloropetalum  won  the Maj.General Murray-Lyon Trophy for the best plant from the former Tayside region
Liz Mills won the Duff Prize and Perth Salver for the best plant and most points in Section 2
Your photographer brought the only  Rhododendrons in the show so took the Cox Rhodo. trophy- as well as the Middleton Challenge trophy   for most points  in the open section.

then cassiopes, plants grown outside, mini garden, three Scottish plants, two cushions, a Calceolaria -one of the plants from the not elsewhere in the schedule category. Section 2 had few entries but here are a nice orchid and succulent. I have added a couple to show the rest of the not otherwise scheduled class and the foliage effect plants

Great show, thanks for showing these, Stan.
Is that Jean W with Angie in second pic in Reply#5?  If so, she's looking well.  If it's someone else, then they are looking well  ;D

Captions to pic 31 - - The man in the middle -Peter Timoney -suggested 'a rose between two thorns' though the 'thorns' retaliated with 'an older man between two Youngs'.
