It wasn't alone Dix export selling this 'Crocus cvijicii'

There was a grower selling them as 'Crocus cvijicii'
He sold them all over the world to the trade

If you start mentioning all sellers who sell wrong named plants
a phone book is much to small to mention them

As I grow thousands of Cr. tommasinianus there are many selfsown seedlings in many shades of mauve/ purple . some as dark if not darker than C. tomm. 'Claret ' and some with a buff exterior and claret inside .

from Kevock
Mark,

No, I haven't seen this in flower, as it is new to me, but I have every reason to believe that our source is reliable. We have had very few problems, and the rarer the bulb, the more likely it is to be correctly named!

The more rare the bulb the likely it will be wrong - I say

Here is the response from Dix Export

Dix Export B.V.

Roland,

Crocus cvijicii hebben wij één keer aangeboden in 2007, daarna gelijk uit prijslijst verwijderd omdat deze niet soortecht waren.

 With kind regards,

 Simone van den Oever.
 director

It says

They where offered only once in 1997 and never again
because they where not correctly labelled

Having ordered (& subsequently cancelled) some C.cvijicii from a UK importer I sent an email to Dix in 1997* informing them that the plant illustrated on their website was not C.cvijicii but probably C. angustifolia. I received an extremely polite response, thanking me & informing me that the incorrectly identified plant would be removed from their website. It stayed on their website.

Edit:
*I think the year was  2007

As far as I'm concerned this supplier ( Kevock ) has not done anything wrong regarding the supply of this bulb ( C. tommasinianus Claret ), and I find this unfounded attack on their integrity and business practises sneaky, cowardly and totally without collaboration. If you don't want it don't buy it!!
I've had many bad dealings with suppliers regarding species provided, and will criticise them vehemently but always retrospectively. I don't understand how you can contemplate doing it in advance. Same thing goes for the prices asked, if you want it buy it, if its too much for you ...don't.
I don't think anyone is attacking Kevock. To point out that something can be bought more cheaply elsewhere is not an attack. I don't know about Mark, but it is correct to comment that I acted "totally without collaboration."

I agree with you Ron

Gerry

It was C. angustifolia

I got the bulbs from them for testing if they where true named
