my wife loves all kind of poppies ...so we have always searched for this plants
In last year a farmer gave us some plants from his garden ( we could not find it in nurseries ) ....in  fall I have collect the the seeds and sow it in spring ....now they starts with flowering - it is really a nice surprice each days opens flowers with other colors

In this spring we had luck and could buy in one of our favorite nursery two named Eschscholzia cultivars :

Eschscholzia "Yellow Chrome"
Eschscholzia "Mikado"

Hi Hans,
these are some of my favourite "annuals" and I often let them get "out of hand" to the deteriment of their neighbours! They self seed and cross to make new colour combinations each year.
Here are a few that have come up in our garden [pics taken last October]
If you'd like me to save some seed please let me know.

I love these, the colours are so strong, they light up even a rainy day, of which we are having rather more than usual in an English summer. When is the best time to sow for a good display next year?

I have sown my plants inside of our house on 25.March - they have flowered after 13 weeks here in my garden

Just had a look at your lovely poppies Hans. They are lovely with the sun on them.

I have the big red poppy out in flower now and it's so nice just a pity that the rain ruins its flower. Sorry don't know its right name.
Here is a picture I took the other day, the only day it wasn't raining  :'(

I think it is a P.orientale cultivar but I can not help you with a name

Two pictures from the early summer. These are perfect for dry and sunny rocks. They don’t need much soil at all.
