Nature Reserve 'Torfbroek' in Belgium
« on: July 02, 2012, 12:27:07 PM »
Yesterday we visited one of our Belgian nature reserves with the Flemish Rock Garden Society.
'Torfbroek' is a calcareous swamp of about 40 hectares.

We saw some interesting plants growing there:

Dactylorhiza fuchsii
Gymnadenia conopsea
Epipactis palustris
Epipactis palustris var. ochroleuca
Epipactis palustris and Epipactis palustris var. ochroleuca together
Drosera rotundifolia
and Anagallis tenella

Thanks, John,

it's a shame we were too late to see Ophrys apifera, Rhinanthus minor and Valeriana dioica in bloom! And a bit too early to see Parnassia palustris in flower....but you can't have it all  ;)
